HISTORICAL BACKGROUND OF GHANA

  • Ghana was colonized by the British from 1820 to 1957.

  • In 1957, Ghana gained independence by six strong and ambitious namely;

  • Ghana is the first African country to gain independence from their colonia masters

  • Kwame Nkrumah became the prime minister of Ghana and later the first president of the Ghana. 

  • Ghana became Republic on 1st June 1960 under the Nkruma admistration.

  • Ghana has passed through series of governance that is the Democratic rule and the millitary rule, with series of coup d'etat. 

  • Some of Ghanaian presidents from 1960-present are;
