CONTINUATION OF THE HISTORICAL BACKGROUND

  • Ghana practices the parliamentary democracy of government and we got that from our colonia rulers (Britain).

  • Ghana has population of 25.9 million people.

  • The country is divided into 10 different Regions, what Americans call state.

  • Ghana has literacy rate of is 71.5%

  • The official language is English and the second popular language is Twi which is from one of the tribes in the country. 

  • Apart from the president and the government entourage, the country has various chiefs and kings who help the government in abiding by the rules in the country

  • Ghana has over a 100 languages and about nine major tribes with many ethnic groups.

  • The Ghana constitution constitution caters for the traditional rulers who reign over some of the local areas in in the country.

  • Ghana has three government systems; Lesgislation. judicial and the excutive branch. According to the Ghana constitution that was approved on 28th April, 1992, the legislature has an unicameral house with 230 members and a Speaker, they make the laws. The president is the head of the executives, the judiciary is an independent body that administer justice.
